Cucumber Juice for Weight Loss is a refreshing and nutrient-packed drink perfect for detoxifying and boosting your metabolism. Made with simple, healthy ingredients like cucumber, lemon, lime, ginger, green apples, and mint leaves, this juice is a delicious way to support your weight management goals.

A glass of vibrant green cucumber juice garnished with a slice of lime, with fresh mint leaves, a piece of ginger, and a halved lime in the background. this …

The combination of cucumber and mint makes for a refreshing drink on a hot summer day. This juice is delicious and packed with gut-healing, detoxifying, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a perfect addition to your weight loss efforts.

Cold-pressed juice is a great way to maximize the nutritional benefits of fresh produce- it's a shot of nutrients straight to the cells, bypassing the digestive system. (Check out my article: Health Benefits of Cold-Pressed Juice.)

For years I've been a major advocate for using food as medicine. My favorite functional homemade juices are Turmeric Lemon Liver Cleanse Juice or our Sweet Potato Weight Loss Juice.  Try also our copycat recipe First Watch Kale Tonic!

Before getting started, I like to take a moment to set healthy intentions. For tips on setting intentions from a Certified Hypnotherapist, check out our free guide.

    Ingredients

Ingredients for cucumber juice arranged on a wooden surface: a cucumber, a lemon, a lime, a piece of ginger root, a green apple, and fresh mint leaves, each labeled.

Cucumbers: Cucumbers have a multitude of nutrients and high water content. They are a low-calorie food that is packed with vitamins and nutrients like vitamin K.

Ginger: This powerful root is anti-inflammatory and aids digestion. It’s great for adding a spicy kick to your juice.

Mint Leaves: Mint aids digestion, improves cognitive function, reduces cold symptoms, and has calming effects that can benefit mental health. It is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals. It is a perfect addition to an anti-cancer diet!

Lemon: Lemon juice boosts energy and stimulates bile production for better digestion.

Using fresh, organic, and high-quality ingredients ensures you get the most nutritional benefits from your juice, supporting your weight loss journey and overall health.

If you have a health condition or are taking medications, discuss any dietary changes with your primary care provider.

    Substitutions and Variations

Feel free to customize this recipe to suit your preferences and dietary needs:

    • Herb Substitutes: Swap mint for parsley, cilantro, or basil to change the flavor profile of your juice. All are detoxifying.
    • Sweetness: For sweeter juice, add raw honey or use a sweeter apple variety like Fuji or Gala.
    • Cucumber Water: Instead of juicing consider making cucumber water. Add cucumber slices, fresh mint, lime, and lemon to your water jug and sip on it throughout the day!

How to Make Cucumber Juice for Weight Loss

A plate of prepared ingredients including cucumber slices, lemon wedges, lime pieces, ginger slices, and apple slices ready for juicing.

Step 1: Wash all produce thoroughly.

Hint: Use a 1:1 white vinegar and clean water solution to clean the produce. I use a spray bottle, leave it on for one minute, then rinse it off.

Cut the cucumbers, green apple, lemon, and lime into smaller pieces or small chunks.

Peel the ginger and citrus fruits.

Slices of cucumber, green apple, and pieces of ginger in a juicer tray, ready for juicing.

Step 2: Start by juicing the ginger, followed by the whole cucumber cut into pieces, and then the apple chunks.

Use the tamper to ensure all produce makes it clear through the juicer.

Lemon and lime wedges with fresh mint leaves in a juicer tray, ready for juicing.

Step 3: Juice the lemon and lime pieces, followed by the fresh mint leaves.

Again, use the tamper between each veggie/fruit to make sure everything is juiced properly.

A glass of vibrant green cucumber juice garnished with a slice of lime, with fresh mint leaves, a piece of ginger, and a halved lime in the background.

Step 4: Stir the juice well to combine all the flavors.

Carefully pour the juice into a tall glass. Add ice cubes if desired.

Hint: If you do not have a juicer, use a food processor or blender. After blending, strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve to remove the pulp.

    Top Tips

Chew your juice. Yes, you heard me correctly! Instead of chugging, sip slowly and hold the juice in your mouth, making a chewing motion to stimulate the production of amylase in your saliva. Chewing your juice helps to break it down and become more bioavailable, allowing you to get the most nutrients from your juice. This simple practice enhances digestion and maximizes the health benefits of your nutrient-rich juices.

It is most beneficial when you drink juice on an empty stomach! That way it does not have to compete with any other digestive processes going on at the same time and can absorb more quickly into your body.

    Recipe FAQ's

    1. What is the best time to drink cucumber juice for weight loss?

In the Morning. The best time to drink cucumber juice is in the morning on an empty stomach. This helps kickstart your metabolism, aids in detoxification, and keeps you hydrated throughout the day. You can also enjoy it before meals to help control your appetite and boost digestion.

    2. Is it okay to drink cucumber juice every day?

Yes, it's okay to drink cucumber juice every day. This healthy drink is hydrating, low in calories, and packed with essential vitamins and minerals. Incorporating this green juice into your daily routine can aid in digestion, help flush out toxins, and provide a steady supply of nutrients. However, as with any healthy juice recipe, it's important to maintain a balanced diet and consult with your primary care provider if you have any health conditions or are on a special diet.

    3. Why should we not drink water after eating cucumber?

Drinking water immediately after eating cucumber can dilute stomach acids, potentially slowing down the digestive process. This can lead to bloating and discomfort. It's best to wait at least 30 minutes after consuming cucumber or cucumber juice before drinking water to allow proper digestion and maximize the absorption of nutrients.
